Product category: Wines from Bierzo

Casar de Burbia_ Godello

Origin of the grapes: midlands of Valtuille de Arriba, from the Valdepiñeiro and Valdaiga vineyards.
Region: D.O. Bierzo
Soil type: clay with medium-sized stones.
Viticulture:soils richer in organic matter so the vines there were planted on trellises, hand-picked.
Variety: 100% godello
Elaboration: After a cold pre-maceration of the must, we carry out a low temperature fermentation in stainless steel tanks for an average of 45 days, depending on the harvest. Then we age it slowly with its fine lees for approximately eight months. With this wine we initially work with several tanks to work on the aroma and the mouth separately to then assemble them and achieve the best in each of its tasting phases.
TASTING NOTES
Bold, ripe, and exuberant aromas of peach and mango lead to a soft, delicious, and fleshy palate that has a long, ripe sweet fruit core.

Valdaiga vineyard estates in Valtuille de Arriba, El Bierzo.
Region: D.O. Bierzo
Soil type: clayey soils from their accumulation at the bottom of the slope.
Viticulture: soils richer in organic matter, which is why the vines there were planted on trellises and closer together, so that the plants naturally compete with each other and balance out their vigour.
Variety: 100% mencía
Elaboration: aintaining the house style, the wine is vinified in small 10,000 litre tanks, where the different plots of our vineyard are fermented separately, to then define the blend that will make up the new Casar de Burbia vintage. The wine is aged for two months on its own lees and then placed in second and third year French oak barrels for a period of time that depends on the type of vintage, which is usually around 10-12 months.
TASTING NOTES
Brimming with cherry, blueberry, and floral aromas, this is a vibrant, spicy Mencía with polished tannins and acidity and a long, bright mineral finish. Drink or store

Casar de Burbia. Godello Barrica

Origin of the grapes: Valdepiñeiro vineyard
Region: D.O. Bierzo
Soil type: clayey, rich in aluminium and iron with traces of quartz.
Viticulture: single-estate goblet vineyards in the upper part of Valtuille harvested by hand.
Variety: 100% godello
Elaboration: once the plot is harvested by hand we cool the grapes in the winery to guarantee greater freshness in its aromatic shades. After a light pressing, we let the must macerate slightly with the skins to build some structure in your mouth. Fermentation is started in stainless steel but ends in used 500 and 600 litre French oak barrels, where it will remain for about a year until it has completed its ageing in oak, in contact at all times with its own lees, which are stirred periodically to avoid any reduction in the wine. Its last stage will be outside the barrels in stainless steel tanks, where the wine will remain seven more months in contact with its lees and will finish stabilising and rounding off.
TASTING NOTES
Bolder, riper, and more exuberant peach and mango aromas lead to a soft, delicious, and fleshy palate that has a long and sweet ripe fruit core
