Galil Mountain Winery

Leading Wines from the Heart of Israel

Leading Wines from the Heart of Israel

Leipzig/Tel Aviv, February 2009: The Galil Mountain Winery is not only one of the most beautiful wineries in Israel but is also among only a few to be located at such high altitude. In the Upper Galilee Mountains, only a stone’s throw away from the Lebanese border, this young winery makes wine that combines the tradition of the Biblical land with the 21st century modernity.

The Galil Mountain Winery was founded in the year 2000 as a joint venture between the internationally renowned winery Golan Heights and Kibbuz Yiron. The mountains of this region reach an altitude of over 1000 meters. The special topography of the region, the outstanding soil and a climate ideal for grape growing provide optimal conditions for top quality wine making.

The newly constructed winery is a futuristic building that architects Shai Weinstein und Gil Vaadia impressively integrated into the landscape. Using materials such as wood, glass, stainless steel and concrete, the architects created a cellar that develops simultaneously into a visitor center and became a touristic highlight of the area.

The young team at Galil Mountain currently produces annually close to a million bottles of kosher wine with grapes from five vineyards in the region. The style of cellar master Micha Vaadia, who studied at the Davies University and thereafter worked at wineries in Argentina, California and New Zealand, is clearly geared towards the modern world. The results are astonishingly delicate, mineral, fine-toned wines that impressively capture the special flavor of the Upper Galilee region. The premium wines are marketed under the label Yiron while the second line is branded under the name Galil Mountain.

The international distribution of Galil Mountain wines is carried out in the USA, Canada, Germany, Great Britain, The Netherlands, France, Poland, Italy and Switzerland.

Enjoy the excellent Galil Mountain wines and meet its winemakers at the Israel joint booth in Hall 6 (Booth G60) at the ProWein Exhibition 2009 in Düsseldorf.
