ProWein 2010 has ended more than successfully. The exhibitors were very content about how business went during the last three days. We asked them.

 
 

ProWein 2010 breaks all records



On 23 March ProWein 2010 ended with record visitor and exhibitor figures. Over 3,300 exhibitors and 36,000 trade visitors from throughout the world took part in this leading business platform for the international wine and spirit sector. The next ProWein will be held in Düsseldorf from 27 to 29 March 2011.

Felix Solis: ProWein's importance continues to grow



Felix Solis Avantis is one of the biggest spanish wine producers from Valdepeñas. His brands are well known in most european countries and all over the wolrd. Sue Birch, CEO of Wines of South Africa WOSA for the past 10 years, talks to our reporter Michael Kriess on ProWein 2010. In this decade the south african wine export has increased dramatically - from about 100 to more than 400 million litres per year. Sue Birch was named Drinks Business Woman of the Year in 2009. On ProWein she speaks about the World Cup in South Africa and its hugely beneficial effects on the South African wine business. For Enoch Zaleni, Sales and Marketing Manager from FairValley, South Africa this year's ProWein is his first. Fairvalley is an association of south african families 42 families who started wine production in 1997 and today produce Chenin Blanc, Pinotage and Cabernet Sauvignon on a fair basis.

Danila Avdiu looking forward to ProWein 2010



Danila Avdiu, project director of ProWein is looking forward to another great year: For three days, over 3,300 exhibitors from 50 countries present themselves, among them all relevant winegrowing regions in the world, as well as numerous spirits suppliers. With this comprehensive offering, the leading trade fair is not only optimally prepared, but is also substantiating its reputation as the most important meeting of the international wine and spirits industry. A total of approximately 35,000 trade visitors from commerce and gastronomy are expected.

Majorca is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Europe - especially for the German travellers - that makes also the wine highly sought-after. FIZZZ Lounge presents itself in Triumph

The FIZZZ Lounge organised by publishing house Meininger Verlag is this year very much in World Cup mood. Under the motto “Cocktails for Champions” event drinks will be mixed using spirits from the great footballing nations. For Brazil the line-up includes rum and cachaça while the Italian team centres on bitters and herbal liqueurs. English fans swear by cocktails with gin and Spain deploys its brandy tactics.

Delikatessen zum Wein 
Delicatessen and wine are the definite dream team for every epicure. Especially for the specialised retailers amongst the ProWein visitors, the product range at the gallery in hall 6 is a real insider’s tip. Here, they will find not only a plethora of interesting ideas for product line design but also a host of information on the individual products and their interplay with wine.

About 30 well-known producers and importers are participating in this year’s presentation “Wine’s best friends”. In addition to the finest olive oils, aceto balsamicos and pâtés, one will find delectable jams, gourmet sauces, precious chocolate creations or unusual spice pastes.

Tasting Area in Hall 6

Tasting Zone in Hall 6 
Under the motto “Wine in Business”, the tasting zone of the
ProWein in cooperation with the trade journal “Weinwirtschaft”
provides orientation within the global range of offers.
In 2010, exhibitors of the ProWein will thus present their white and
red wines according to distribution channels within clearly defined
price segments.

Then, every sales and distribution channel needs its own specific
offer. The clustering of the tasting zone takes place according to
food trade, specialized trade and gastronomy. This way you get a first
compact impression of the offer which is relevant to you.

The tasting area is open daily from 09.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m.

Want to conclude your visit to the Düsseldorf trade fair with a sumptuous meal washed down with a splendid wine? If so you should definitely take advantage of the “tour de menu” initiative running in parallel with ProWein and held in Düsseldorf already for the 11th time now.

Between 26 February and 23 March 2010 51 restaurants in and around Düsseldorf will be proffering a variety of delightful menus to 35,000 gourmets and “tour fans”. Over a total of 26 days the cooking and serving staff at these establishments will be fighting for a place on the “tour de menu” winners’ podium.

Exquisite thai wine for great cuisine



Thailand isn't really famous for its wine growers. But Siam Winery is well on the way to becoming a renowned winery: Founded in 1982, Siam Winery produced its first wines in 1997. The company has vineyards in the Pak Chong Hills, Hua Hin and the Chao Phraya delta. The goal was to produce a high quality wine which would be able to complement the exquisite Thai dishes, much liked inside Thailand and abroad. Today, the winey produces three main brands: Monsoon Valley, Sabai and Spy.
